When in a high molecular weight, hyaluronic acid forms a film over the skin surface capable of limiting TEWL and restoring water balance in skin. When in medium and low molecular weights, hyaluronic acid goes through the stratum corneum of skin to be absorbed into the epidermal layers, giving deep hydrating and revitalising effects
